FADED GLORY- THE FILM - UPDATE

Many of you have been wondering what has happened to the Faded Glory film over the course of this year. Well....

First off, "Faded Glory" has been cut down to a rapid, streaming 92 minutes and 23 seconds including the credits. At one time, it was 2hrs 52 min and another, 2hrs 04 min. It was an amazing feat to get the film to this length and it took the strong efforts of a lot of talented people to see the film all the way to fruition. I was very lucky that a prestigious screenwriter and old friend, Allison Burnett (the writer of the new "Fame" movie, "Resurrecting the Champ," and "Autumn in NY"), saw greatness in this film, enough to come onboard and rework my narrative. WaveGuide Studios in Atlanta oversaw the final edits and now the audio is crystal clear, the color sharp and the new graphics bold. The story really moves along at a crisp pace.

Second, and on a more surprising note, I signed as a filmmaker with the prominent Evolution Management team in Los Angeles. My manager at Evolution, Stephen Gates, submitted my rough cut to David Anspaugh (director of "Hoosiers" and "Rudy") and Angelo Pizzo (writer of "Hoosiers" and "Rudy") whom they also represent. The two legends absolutely loved the story and the characters, enough to officially attach themselves to make a feature version of my film in 2009-10! Just the fact that these pioneers of two of the greatest sports movies of all-time were compelled to move forward on this is the thrill of a lifetime for me. The next step is to pitch a version of "FG" to all the studios and see who bites. With Anspaugh and Pizzo attached to direct and write respectively we've got as great a shot as anyone to get picked up for a development deal.

Third, the National Network team is once again going for a title out in Phoenix starting next week. We are competing in the 35+ NABA World Series from Tuesday, September 30th until Sunday, October 5th (Championship day). We've lost some core players this year but gained some stronger, younger ones as well. We think the team is better than it was last year. We have a lot more speed, we're deeper pitching and we have a real shot at the title! I've hired a production crew for two days to get some addendum footage If all works out, it should make for quite an ending to this very long and arduous journey. You can check out all the games and box scores on this website starting next Wednesday morning. I will be updating the site each night and entering into this BLOG. Please write your own messages and comments here...but keep it respectful and clean.

For Box Scores, either click on the game schedule or go to TEAM and find Box Scores.

Fourth, Sports Illustrated has contacted me and wants to do a story about the team, the film and amateur baseball in general for one of its October editions. Senior Writer Phil Taylor is doing the story and he plans on possibly coming out to Phoenix to interview me and the team as well as spend some time sitting on the bench during play. I will be sending out more information regarding this in the near future. Stay tuned!
